I envision the day…
When women and men will be treated equally and given the same opportunities.
When men will not use their position to discredit but to empower women.
When women will not be seen as subhuman or less than.
When women are not objectified and categorized.
When women will not be frowned upon for working outside the home, for not having children, or for not getting married.
When both women and men will be responsible for taking care of their kids and the home.
When women will be given the freedom to pursue their God given purpose and calling.
When women will be seen, heard and believed.
When women will not only be viewed as emotional but strong, courageous, and intelligent.
When women and men will be able to coexist in positions of leadership and power.
When women will have the same human rights as men.
Until that day…
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are treated as second class citizens.
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are ignored, disregarded and excluded.
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are being mistreated and abused.
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are denied the right to fulfill their potential.
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are confined to a gender role.
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are seen as just a pretty face and nothing more.
We cannot be satisfied as long as women are viewed as weak, helpless, and submissive.
We cannot be satisfied as long as there is misogyny, discrimination, prejudice, abuse, and bigotry.
And Even though we are not where we should be
Even though it will still require many days of tears and discouragement
Even though women are still not treated equally and justly
Even though it will take us longer than necessary for women to hold positions of influence and leadership
Even though it seems like an impossibility to eliminate the double standards and misjudgments.
We must continue to believe and persist in a day when all people, men and women, are equally valued as God intended them to be.
We must continue to be used by God to break molds, stereotypes, and boundaries
We must continue to reflect the qualities He has instilled in both men and women, who He created in His image.
We must continue to teach our girls and boys that gender does not take away or limit the potential of being all God wants us to be.
We must continue to speak up.
We must continue to educate.
We must continue to influence.
We must continue to persist.
