I loved hearing my hubby preach yesterday at the Youth Tent for the Greater New York Conference United Campmeeting.
His sermon was titled “These Two Things” and I wanted to share a little with you today some of the things I enjoyed hearing him say.
1. God Loves You.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Whether you are good or bad, God loves you. There is nothing you can do that will stop Him from loving you.
There is nothing more solid, more complete than the love of Jesus. His love is the most solid truth the church has ever possessed.
Without His love there is nothing. Without His love we have no creation, no cross, no resurrection, no second coming.
If God’s love is not front and center of everything we do, we are doing nothing, we are just creating a XXI century club of Pharisees.
2. God Wants You to Love Others
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35
People did not follow Jesus because of the way He dressed, or the type of food He ate, or the kind of music He listened to, or because He was perfect. People loved Jesus because Jesus loved people.
As a church, could it be that we have misunderstood what Revival and Reformation is all about? Could it be that in order to maintain our religion pure and our church clean we have forgotten what Jesus is all about?
Jesus took time with the children. Jesus took time with the Samaritan lady that had marital issues. Jesus took time with Nicodemus the Pharisee. Jesus took time to heal the sick. Jesus loved people.
The biggest Revival and Reformation the church needs today is a church filled with youth, young adults, children and adults filled with the love of Jesus.
I enjoy seeing how God uses my husband in so many ways!
God, may we learn from You what is means to love. May we be filled with so much compassion that people will know us as those that love everyone and are a true reflection of who You are.
