When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord,” he said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.” Luke 18:40-42
Have you wanted something so bad, that you did everything humanly possible to get it, and still did not achieve it? If you knew that you would be ridiculed in order to get what you needed, would you keep trying without giving up?
The Bible tells us of a blind beggar sitting by the road side. One day he could hear a crowd approaching. There was lots of noise and excitement. He had sat by the road for so many years but he had never heard such a commotion. He really wanted to know what was going on, so he asked someone to tell him what was happening, why was everyone so enthusiastic? They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was going by.
This blind man had heard of many great stories and miracles of Jesus. He knew that Jesus was the only one that could heal him. Today was his chance for a miracle. Today he needed Jesus to see him and touch him, so he began to shout “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” The crowd knew he was blind, and needed a miracle but they did not care about his needs, they did not want a poor blind man to have Jesus’ attention, they wanted Jesus all to themselves, so they yelled at him “Be quiet!”
Being blind and not able to approach Jesus, he could not let the crowd seize the only chance he might have for a miracle. He had been laughed at and mistreated before, so being yelled at to be quiet was not going to stop him, this was his only chance. It gave him a greater desire, an urgency, to shout even louder “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Jesus heard the blind man and asked that they bring the man to him. This blind man did all he could, humanly speaking, to get Jesus’ attention, and his sight was returned because of his faith. He was healed.
Are you and your spouse trying to conceive and have not been able to, or have had a miscarriage? Do you feel like giving up but something inside you keeps telling you to keep trying?
Are you being ridiculed because you have a dream? Do others think that you can’t achieve it so they put you down and tell you it will never happen?
Are you diagnosed with a terminal illness and have no hope? Have the Doctors told you that there is nothing more they can do for you?
Are you made fun of because you are overweight? You have tried every diet out there, but none of them seem to work? Nobody understands how hard it is for you to lose weight, and instead of helping you their actions make you eat even more?
Are you in need of a job? You go out everyday looking for work but have had no luck. It seems all the doors have been shut in your face. Stress is really taking a toll on you and you just don’t know what to do anymore?
Jesus is close by, all you have to do is SHOUT! Tell him what you need, what you desire. Tell him that you need His help, you can’t do it without Him! If you feel like He isn’t responding, keep shouting, call on His name even louder. Don’t give up! Don’t let the crowd tell you to be quiet, Jesus wants to hear what YOUR need is. He wants to do a miracle in your life. Have faith. Persevere. Never Give Up! Never stop Shouting Jesus’ name, even after the miracle. Continually praise Him and tell others that Jesus wants to hear them call out His name as well.
Prayer: Jesus have mercy on me! At times I am blind and I can’t see that you are beside me willing to help me out and give me a miracle. Help me not to give up. May my shout be louder than the yelling of the crowds. I will keep shouting and praising Your name all the days of my life. Amen!
