The room was filled with many who would despise her, eyes that would look at her in disgust, words that would make her feel unwanted and unloved, but she had to enter the room. She needed to face those comments, those piercing unloving eyes, the rejection of others, in order to receive forgiveness. As she cautiously entered the room, with her head down, eyes to the floor, she walked towards the one who could make a difference in her life. Although feeling humiliated, unworthy and full of shame, she was not going to leave until she had done what she came to do.
She brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. (Luke 7:37–38 NIV)
Jesus knew her heart and her desire. He Loved her and protected her. He gave her what no one else could give her, what she so desperately longed for – forgiveness.
Do you sometimes feel like this woman, Mary Magdalene – shameful and unwanted? Is there something you have done that has brought ridicule and criticism in your life? Are you afraid of being rejected? Is the room full of people that despise you?
Do not fear. Enter the room. Jesus Loves You! He knows your hearts desires and He will protect you. He wants you to know that you can come to Him, just as you are, for He is the ONLY one that can give you what you long for – forgiveness.
Prayer: Lord, I know I can come to You without fear for You Love me. You know my life, and the mistakes I have made. My tears, my hurts, my fears, my life I lay them at Your feet. Today I ask of You – what nobody else can give me- to forgive me.
